It’s Summer – Go Jump in a Lake! - Robinson Industries

It’s 90 degrees and humid today in Michigan. Maybe I’m a little distracted at work thinking about how nice it would feel to jump in a beautiful Michigan lake. So, in my wandering mind I’m remembering with amusement some of the unusual uses I’ve seen for our products over the years.

I have used plastic pallets from Robinson Industries for things like keeping boxes off a wet basement or garage floor, totes for Christmas decorations and kids’ art projects, drip pans for everything from mixing paint and repotting plants to holding boots and keeping the trunk of my car clean. I’ve never truthfully used a drip pan as a drip pan although they do work very well for their intended purpose.

The best creative use of a pallet, and the one that makes me laugh, was seen last summer traveling south on I-75. Someone had strapped a pallet to their car roof, piled some belongings on top of that then topped it off with another pallet to “secure” the whole hodgepodge. I’m definitely NOT recommending our pallets be used this way. This person was probably also clever with duct tape and a hot glue gun. We all know someone like this, right?

We also make a really nice ice fishing sled sold through a major retailer. People who have this sled tell me they find many uses for it other than ice fishing. My neighbors use theirs as a sled for their grandkids. Another friend who hunts uses his to haul the deer out of the woods and then later for cleaning the deer. We pulled ours behind a four wheeler, full of neighborhood kids. Some fill it with ice and their favorite beverages.

I hope this blog finds you all enjoying the summer and finding opportunities to laugh and see the lighter side of life. I also hope you’re finding time to let your mind wander and making time to get outside and enjoy nature. Sometimes the best ideas come to us when we are outside or daydreaming.

Summertime! Why “wood” you stay inside? Wherever you are, enjoy summer. Give us a call on a rainy day — we’d love to help design your next plastics project.
